Workshops, workshops, workshops

April was the month for workshops and travel, and marked what may be the end of my photographic education for this year. I had a great month with a trip to Seattle to attend a workshop put on by Warne Noyce of Noyce Photography. The day after that workshop ended, I spent a day in Portland with Mike Long of Katchlite Photography/ Portland Pinups. Mike does editing and retouching for a lot of my wedding work, and is simply a stunning Pin Up photographer. I had the pleasure of some great one on one teaching. He is an amazing person to learn from.

I came back armed with a new appreciation for lighting, retouching, and a few posing skills. Here’s a few shots from the workshops!

Nashville, Tennessee – Inferno Conference

November is the perfect time to head south, so I was glad the Inferno conference I was attending was scheduled in Nashville. I enjoyed the weather, attended a workshop, sat in on a few “impromptu” photo sessions, and met some friends from an online community I’ve been a part of for nearly 2 years. It was refreshing and also invigorating in a way that breathed new life into my career as a photographer. What more could I ask for?

Here’s a few pics I snapped of the Nashville skyline, a shot from one of the sessions, and a few of my friends out on the town. Good times…

Darren at Waterfront Park

My brother Darren wanted to do some Facebook photos, so we headed down to downtown Kelowna to Waterfront Park, and did some sunset shots. I hadn’t done much along this boardwalk in the past, simple because it is one of those places in Kelowna that get’s “done” so much, I have always sort of avoided it. But I thought “why not this time”, and I’m glad I did. For what my brother wanted, the park worked fine.

I can see why people choose to go there so often for portraits!

It’s always hardest to photograph FAMILY

You would think that, as a photographer, I would have the BEST photos of my kids…

Not necessarily so…

I’ve found it’s hardest to photograph your own kids, who don’t want to sit in front of YOUR camera for the billionth time.

This is what I get when I try…
